Meet Dr. Tiffany Harrop

Welcome! I am a Kansas City-based, licensed psychologist who specializes in working with individuals for whom ambition, achievement, and anxiety are intertwined. My background includes working with diverse professionals across medical/healthcare, academic, government, and legal settings. I understand the tensions that arise from navigating the dynamic boundaries between personal and professional life, including acute stress, emotional exhaustion, harsh self-critique, overwhelm, increased vulnerability to burnout, and disconnection from who and what we value most. As a woman and person with a physical disability, I recognize the tax of navigating the systemic inequities within these spaces and how such experiences can further fuel cycles of self-doubt, fatigue, and the pressure to over-perform in order to be seen as valuable. Through therapy, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental, compassionate environment where you can slow down, explore the challenges arising for you, reconnect with your values, and identify what you truly need in order to foster worthwhile and enduring change.

Therapeutic Approach:

My approach to therapy involves application of evidence-based practices and empirically supported treatments (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy) within a psychological framework incorporating values such as compassion, inclusion, advocacy, authenticity, liberation, and resilience. This means:

  • Prioritizing collaboration and mutual respect in the therapeutic process, empowering you to trust your own voice as the expert of your lived experience—even when self-doubt tries to convince you otherwise. Fostering a supportive environment where your perspectives and needs are honored.

  • Encouraging curiosity and gentleness toward self-doubt, perfectionism, and imposter feelings, so you may develop a more compassionate, authentic relationship with yourself. Through gentle inquiry, you can learn to embrace your humanness and nurture genuine self-acceptance and growth.

  • Affirming all aspects of your identity, from gender and sexuality to race, ability status, and spirituality. Creating space to honor the intersectionality of your experiences and promote greater authenticity and fulfillment.

  • Cultivating a sense of intrinsic worth, independent of external outcomes, accomplishments, or expectations. Honoring your inherent value, unique qualities, strengths, and experiences. Shifting focus from constant striving or attempts at living up to unrealistic standards and toward promoting self-acceptance and self-compassion.

  • Identifying your core values and supporting alignment with them. Exploring what truly matters to you, clarifying the principles that guide your life, and developing strategies to help your actions and choices reflect those values more fully.

  • Highlighting the impact of systems of power and oppression and how they shape patterns of self-criticism, burnout, avoidance, and detachment from yourself. Offering guidance to help you rediscover and reclaim your sense of self in the face of systemic challenges.
